These volunteer opportunities are a little different from our monthly Library VolunTeens. Sometimes they are with outside organizations and sometimes not.

Live4Lali McHenry County will be here to instruct community members on how to use Narcan and prevent overdoses. Everyone will get Narcan and fentanyl test strips to take home. This is all provided by grant and donation funding to Live4Lali.
AAPLD Holiday Giving Tree
If you grab a mitten tag from our annual AAPLD Giving Tree and send a photo of your gift to teen@aapld.org, the teen librarian will count that as one service hour. The Giving Tree is up right now so stop in and grab a tag! Gifts are for lower income families in our community.
My Sister's Dress Drive - coming in January-February 2025
For the past two years, AAPLD has been a dress drop-off location for the annual My Sister's Dress used formalwear sale. We will be a drop-off location again for the 2025 sale, however drop-off will not begin until the final week of January 2025. Why? We simply do not have space to store hundreds of gowns. So if you have a gown in your closet that you want to get rid of, consider holding onto it until January! Donated dresses will be sold for $25 each at McHenry County College. Proceeds go to MCC's Education to Empowerment scholarship fund. One dress = one hour of service -- just take a photo of yourself putting your dress on the rack in the AAPLD lobby and send it to teen@aapld.org. My Sister's Dress is totally volunteer based so while they don't have a website, they have a Facebook page here and an Instagram page here.
**Note on Eastgate: In theory, the Eastgate Branch library will also be a drop-off location. We are assuming it will be open for full services again on January 6, 2025.**
