Finals Week @ AAPLD

Finals Week Survival Kits
If you are in the library studying for finals this week, be sure to grab a survival kit from us in the teen room! Available from 12/15-12/20, or while supplies last.

Winter Reading: Slow Down and Read
Signup starts December 16th! You can sign-up online using Beanstack either as a website or as a mobile app. The Teen reading program counts the hours that you read. You only need to read 5 hours this winter to complete the program. You can keep reading up to 10 hours for additional grand prize drawing entries. Pickup your prizes at the Adult Services Reference Desk.

Study Spaces:

Private Study Rooms
Please call us directly at 847-458-6060 extension 143 to reserve your study room. Study rooms are open to the public. Reserve a study room for up to 2 hours a day, up to 7-days in advance. They are in high demand during this time so it is advised to call in advance to reserve one if you need one.

Teen Room
The teen room on the upper floor is also a place you may go, however this is probably the least quiet option.

Creation Center as overflow space
The downstairs Creation Center room is specifically reserved for high school students from 3:00-9:00pm each night during finals week.

Stuff to Do:

Asian Calligraphy
Monday, December 16th from 4:00-6:30pm
Creation Center
Creative Arts, Inc will teach us about the history and different styles of Asian calligraphy. Everyone will learn a couple simple characters and go home with their new creation. While this is being prioritized as a teen program, it is suitable for both teens and adults. In the event that it does not fill up with teens by Monday, December 9th, we will open the attendance list up to adults as well to make sure the class is full!

Slo-Mo Light Painting Photography
Tuesday, December 17th from 4:30-5:30pm
Downstairs Meeting Room
Take a study break and try your hand at slow-motion photography, also known as long exposure or slow shutter speed photography. Glow sticks and flashlights will be your “paint.” The expectation is that teens have their own phones to work on, however the library does have a couple old smart phones (not connected to a wireless plan) that can download apps and take photos if needed.
