Review: Paper Towns by John Green

Paper Towns by John Green

I would definitely say that Paper Towns is one of my favorite books. While I was reading I could not put it down because it’s the perfect mixture of mystery, friendship, and love. The main character is Quentin Jacobsen, and he has liked Margo Ruth Spiegelman for a long time. One night she asks him to help him with some pranks and the next day, she’s nowhere to be found. Quentin does everything to find her and gets help from his two best friends, thus incorporating the friendship part of the book.

Sadly, this book only gained popularity after the movie, but I believe that the book is much better because of the details. In a movie, it’s harder to understand who the characters are. John Green wrote such vivid, diverse, and intriguing characters that make the book the best option.

Still, the plot-line is a little hard to believe at times because of the fact that not many high school students have the power and will to do what Margo did, but that aspect of the book makes it more enjoyable. Overall, I’d recommend it to any high school student who also likes other books by John Green because they are written in the same style.

The library owns John Green’s other books, like Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, and The Fault in Our Stars, in a wide variety of formats (including the movies that have been made from his books). Just ask at the desk if you need any help locating them!
