Students in Grades 9-12: Sign up for Winter Reading with your AAPLD Library Card and get a paperback book. Turn in a slip for each book you read (up to 5) and get entered to win one of three 7″ Kindle Fires! Bonus prize: Come talk books with Ms. Jen at Office Hours (Wednesdays 3-6pm) and you could win the weekly drawing for a $10 AMC gift card.

Wednesday, January 27

  • Office Hours with the Young Adult Librarian, 3-6pm @ Harnish Main Library: Come ask questions about reading recommendations, research, young adult programs, volunteer opportunities and more. Candy provided. Have a question, but can’t make Wednesdays? Call Ms. Jen at 847-458-3153 to make an appointment.
  • WiiU YA Super Smash Bros. Tournament, 6:30-8:30pm @ Harnish Main Library: There’s a few spots left to compete! Register today to secure one or just come on by to watch the fun, hang out and eat snacks. For Grades 9-12.

Thursday, January 28

  • High School Anime Board Meeting, 3-5pm @ Harnish Main Library: The board will meet in the Large Study Room to plan our February Anime Club meeting.Crocheted_necklace_crop_1024x1024
  • Crocheted Wire Necklace Workshop, 7-8:30pm @ Eastgate Branch Library: Crochet Wire? Yes you can. Add beads to it and you can make your own necklace or bracelet to match any outfit. Supplies and tools will be provided. No prior knowledge of jewelry making or crochet is needed. $5 Payment required; register in person only at either Library location. For ages 13 and up.

Saturday, January 30

  • ACT Practice Test by KAPLAN, 9:30am-1pm @ Harnish Main Library: This practice test is full! Don’t forget to come if you signed up.

Saturday, February 6

  • ACT Practice Test by Sylvan Learning, 9:30am-1pm @ Eastgate Branch Library: Lots of space is available for this test. Registration must be done in person and costs $15 (payable by cash, check or credit card) which covers your test and scores, plus a study guide. Please bring a pencil and a calculator. Scores will be returned in-person at the follow-up session on Monday, Feb. 15 @ 7pm @ the Eastgate Branch Library. For Grades 10-12. Please note: This is a practice test. We are not an official testing location.
